Streetly

I'm a big fan of street scenes. I won't deny it. I love drawing them, and I never tire of it. It's interesting how the seemingly mundane can become something quite different when it's rendered with pencil, pen, or ink. This scene above is something I created from "thin air" on the need of filling a mystery blank page in my sketchbook. The sketches below are two sketches, both scenes of the Metro Vancouver area, specifically New Westminster.

Shapely

These are some ink drawings I have done recently. They've got a kinda retro feel to them. The texture that the ink on this paper produced makes me think denim and canvas shoes!

My goal is to fill this sketchbook, and it is getting there. This sketchbook, like many of mine is rather ramshackle in that it jumps from theme to theme. That leads me to my next goal, to produce sketchbooks that have more of a sense of purpose to them and are more contextual. It is great to open a sketchbook and draw something random that has inspired me or that just has to be drawn, but I'd like to approach this process more systematically.
